Our summer starting rate is $12.00 per hour with the potential to receive more based on responsibilities.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Assist with supervising a safe and well-organized childcare program by planning and participating in group activities with children at a designated day camp site. This is a very high energy program requiring positive interaction with the children continually throughout the day.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings and trainings.
  • Establish a positive relationship with each child.
  • Develop positive relationships with parents and staff.
  • Develop weekly activities for a group of 12 children.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all children. This includes ensuring children apply sunscreen and stay hydrated.
  • Know where all group members are at all times.
  • Lead games and activities.
  • Maintain appearance of camp through cleanliness and set-up.
  • Take daily attendance and ensure that each child is signed in and out by a responsible party each day.
  • Actively engage children and participants in activities.
  • Prepare and distribute USDA and HEPA approved snacks and/or meals to participants.
  • Perform daily count of meals and snacks served.
  • Report all injuries and incidents to the Director or Coordinator.
  • Display YMCA character values (Honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility) at all times.
  • Required to swim at least two times per week.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Must have an interest in and like children.
  • Must exemplify and support the philosophy of the YMCA.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must have current CPR certification, First Aid, AED, and CO2 (Training provided by the Y, if needed).
  • Must complete Red Woods Online Training within 30 days of hire date.
