Join us for the experience of a lifetime - the YMCA is hiring Summer Day Camp Counselors for 2025!

At the Y, we create an exciting, safe camp environment for kids and staff to have an unforgettable summer. While campers take part in unique experiences and adventures, our Summer Day Camp Counselors develop leadership skills and confidence while making lasting friendships and memories.

Pay starts at $17.90 per hour, Monday-Friday schedule

The Summer Day Camp Counselor serves as a professional role model for our campers by leading through example and guiding them through recreational activities that teach life skills, encourage healthy and safe behaviors, and create a positive camper experience. The counselor ensures that each youth has adequate supervision at all times.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service and create a memorable camper experience
• Lead activities such as arts and crafts, sports, nature hikes, and games
• Modify activities to engage campers of all levels
• Model socially acceptable behaviors and use positive reinforcement
• Communicate regularly with team members and supervisors
• Support camp activities and ensure safety and compliance with YMCA standards
• Monitor campers and provide corrective coaching when necessary
• Prepare facilities and equipment for activities and maintain cleanliness

Qualifications

• Passion for working with youth and outdoor activities
• Age 18 or older by the start of camp
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to build positive relationships and serve as a role model
• Willingness to learn and adapt
• Physical ability to perform job duties

Child Abuse Prevention

• Report hazards and suspicious behavior
• Follow policies to ensure child safety
• Complete required training
