Join us for the experience of a lifetime - the YMCA is hiring Summer Day Camp Counselors for 2025!

At the Y, we create an exciting, safe camp environment for kids and staff to have an unforgettable summer. While campers engage in unique experiences and adventures, our Summer Day Camp Counselors develop leadership skills and confidence, making lasting friendships and memories.

Pay starts at $17.90 per hour, Monday-Friday schedule

The Summer Day Camp Counselor serves as a professional role model, leading recreational activities that teach life skills, encourage healthy and safe behaviors, and create a positive camper experience. They ensure each youth has adequate supervision, with no youth left unsupervised at any time.

Responsibilities
  • Promote the YMCA and provide excellent customer service
  • Lead recreational activities including arts and crafts, sports, nature hikes, and more
  • Instruct and modify activities to engage all campers
  • Model and teach socially acceptable behaviors
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
  • Support camp activities and ensure safety and compliance
  • Monitor and assist campers, providing corrective coaching when necessary
  • Prepare facilities and equipment for activities
Qualifications
  • Passion for working with diverse youth
  • Enjoy outdoors, creativity, and active play
  • Experience in camping, childcare, education, or recreation is a plus but not required
  • Must be 18 or older by the start of camp
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to serve as a positive role model
  • Willingness to learn and apply new skills
  • Meet physical requirements
