Job summary

A leading organization is seeking Summer Day Camp Counselors dedicated to building community with youth. Ideal candidates will thrive in a youth-centered environment, serving as role models and engaging in various activities with campers in grades K-8. The role requires empathy, leadership, and adaptability, with a commitment to inclusivity and fun. Counselors will work approximately 25-30 hours per week from May to August 2025.

  • Prior experience with children preferred.

In search of:

Summer Day Camp Counselors who are excited about spending their days building community with youth, thrive in a youth centered environment and long to serve as professional role models and adventure guides for campers in grades K-8.


Rate of Pay:

Starting at $13.00-$13.50/hour

***Working roughly 25-30 hours per week

Who Are We? The YMCA of Central Stark County is an inclusive, nonprofit organization striving to promote youth development, healthy living and social responsibility in order to strengthen communities. The Y Day Camp program serves over 750 children a day in seven different day camp locations in Stark County. Camps are located in YMCA branches, school buildings or stand alone centers and provide programming outdoors 50-70% of each day.


Camp Locations: Alliance, Canton City, Jackson, Lake (Hartville), Louisville, North Canton & Plain Township.

Qualifications:

  • At least 17 years old, completed High School, and ability to pass a background check
  • Availability May through August 2025 (exact dates vary by location) for both training and work hours
  • Prior experience with children (camp, child care, tutoring, coaching, etc.) preferred
  • Adaptable, flexible, enjoy that everyday is a little different, and knows how to create & promote FUN!
