FCL Builders, LLC offers a 10-week Internship Program designed to immerse students in industrial construction management across Pre-Construction, Production, and Field Operations.

You will receive virtual professional development training, bi-weekly mentorship meetings, and hands-on exposure to project lifecycles, budgets, drawings, and site practices, preparing you for a career in design-build environments.

Responsibilities

• Rotate through Pre-Construction: learn proposal and budgeting, review drawings, and conduct scope reviews.
• Production: assist with bidding, buyout, and subcontractor selection; learn scheduling and project flow.
• Field Operations: participate in on-site reviews, meetings, safety practices, and daily site walks.

Our 10-week Internship Program is designed to give students an immersive, hands-on overview of the industrial construction management process. Through a structured rotation across Pre-Construction, Production, and Field Operations, you’ll gain exposure to every step of the project lifecycle. Along the way, you’ll receive virtual professional development training, as well as bi-weekly mentorship meetings to help you grow both personally and professionally.

What You’ll Do

During your internship, you’ll rotate through three core areas of construction management:

Pre-Construction

• Learn the proposal and budgeting process
• Gain insight into design-build vs. plan-spec approaches
• Review drawings and perform conceptual estimating
• Conduct subcontractor scope reviews and clarifications
• Perform quantity takeoffs and detailed breakdowns
• Understand the importance of subcontractor communication

Production

• Review plans and identify scopes of work
• Assist with bidding, buyout, and subcontractor selection
• Learn about MEP subcontractors in design-build
• Gain exposure to permitting and project documentation
• Understand scheduling, project flow, and subcontractor feedback
• Participate in project closeout processes

Field Operations

• Review drawings and plans on-site
• Attend pre-construction meetings with trades
• Learn and apply jobsite safety practices, including PPE, inspections, audits, and toolbox talks
• Participate in daily site walks and subcontractor meetings
• Track project documentation and contribute to closeout

• Enrollment in an accredited undergraduate program in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
• Strong collaboration skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams
• Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
• Solid mathematical and problem-solving abilities
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Positive attitude, engaging in seeking growth opportunities, and new innovative solutions

Added Value

• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Prior construction management internship experience
• Familiarity with CMiC, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Project

Working Environment

• Mobility on and around active construction sites as well as in-office settings
• Exposure to outdoor elements and construction noise during site visits
• Extended periods working at a desk or computer screen
