Job summary

General Dynamics Bath Iron Works in Bath, Maine, invites applications for a 2027 Summer Internship in Communications. The BIW Communications Department handles internal and external communications, including newsletters, press releases, social media, and event coordination.

This role supports cross-team collaboration to ensure GD brand standards are met across all channels. Qualified candidates are enrolled in a BS or MS program in Communications or related fields and must be available to begin

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a BS or MS program in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Media Studies, Digital Media or related fields.
• Available to begin the Internship on May 17, 2027.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• General computer skills and knowledge of MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Assist with internal and external communications across channels (bulletins, newsletters, social media).
• Support major company events such as christenings, keel layings, trade shows and open houses.
• Help publish press releases, BIW News, and update the public website and YouTube channel.
• Coordinate with various departments and Navy to ensure brand guidelines are followed.
