JOB SUMMARY

As part of our SummerU program, CAP Tulsa is looking for Summer Classroom Assistants to work in a temporary position generally lasting from early June to early August (it could end earlier based on student enrollment and attendance). Flexibility is a requirement, and you may be asked to go to any of our current locations . Positions are Monday through Friday, and you must be available from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. based on need. Some days may end earlier due to child attendance.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Work with current staff to assist in the classroom's daily operations.
  • Work cooperatively with all CAP employees, Family Support personnel, volunteers, and collaborative partners.
  • Willingness to change school locations throughout the Tulsa area, at an on-call basis.
  • Change diapers and assist with toilet training.
  • Positive child guidance and regular child interactions required.
  • Promptly respond to the needs of infants and toddlers in the classroom.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • Preference: Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education with ECE Teaching Certificate, Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, or Associate's Degree in Family Relations/Child Development or a closely related education-based discipline with 6 college courses that equal 18 credit hours in Early Childhood Education.
  • HS Diploma/GED with Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential (with appropriate endorsement), or in the process of obtaining CDA, or Para-Professional Certification (by education or test).
  • Experience working with infant, toddler, or pre-school children.
  • Bilingual skills are not required, but they are preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Must have proven successful interpersonal relationship skills to maintain effective and satisfactory working relationships with intra-department and inter-department staff, vendors, clients, visitors, and contractors.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions with ability to read, interpret, and present information efficiently and effectively.
  • Must be able to accurately audit records and ensure compliance with written or oral guidelines.
  • Ability to take initiative, multi-task and work well under pressure.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality of extremely sensitive data, records, files, conversations, etc
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

The employee is subject to standing, stooping, walking, lifting, and carrying objects throughout daily job performance. The employee must be able to lift and carry fifty (50) pounds. Regular and reliable attendance is required.
