Job summary

Auto-Owners Insurance is seeking a motivated student for a summer claims internship. You will investigate and assemble facts, determine policy coverage, evaluate losses, and aim to pay or deny claims promptly.

You will study insurance policies and forms, work toward resolving claims, and may participate in arbitrations or depositions as needed while serving agents and policyholders with accuracy and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Students should be currently enrolled and entering their junior or senior year in college.
• Above-average communication skills (written and verbal)

Responsibilities

• Investigate and assemble facts, determine policy coverage, evaluate loss amount, analyze legal liability and pay or deny losses.
• Become familiar with insurance coverage by studying policies and forms.
• Work towards resolution of claims; may attend arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials as necessary.
• Ensure claims payments are issued in a timely and accurate manner.
• Service the needs of agents, policyholders and others.
• Handle investigations by phone, mail and on-site investigations.
