Job summary

Pape-Dawson is seeking Civil Engineer Interns in our Florida offices for the summer of 2027 focusing on Land Development. The available locations are Orlando, Jacksonville, Fort Myers, and Sarasota.

The Engineer Intern supports project teams under the supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.), assisting with design tasks on a variety of infrastructure projects, such as transportation, water resources, environmental, survey, and residential or commercial land development.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BS in Civil or Agricultural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Strong fundamentals in engineering principles and practices.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; basic tech literacy.

Responsibilities

• Assist project teams in preparing plans, specs, and cost estimates under supervision.
• Develop and evaluate design alternatives by analyzing basic parameters and constraints.
• Analyze design features to align with project requirements and standards.
• Use AutoCAD Civil 3D to produce drawings, exhibits, and supporting documents.
• Support preparation of technical reports, memoranda, and studies.
• Participate in site visits, field activities, and data collection.
• Assist with redlines, submittals, and record drawings.
• Engage in progressively complex design tasks as skills grow.
• Assist in plans for residential, commercial, and site development, including grading and drainage.
