Job description

Summary: Student Teachers are responsible for providing classroom education for students enrolled in the ASMS STEM Summer Camps. They must maintain a classroom climate that nurtures and supports a learning environment in STEM education. Ensure campers' safety during class activities. Student teachers must be prepared, ensure their classroom is properly maintained, and complete necessary administrative tasks. Monitor and assist with lunches and snack breaks as needed.

Scheduling and Placement:

June 2-6 & June 9-13

Monday – Friday

Dayshift: 7:30 am – 3:30 pm

Evening shift: 3:30 pm – 10:30 pm

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Must be 18 years old.
  2. Must have two or more years’ education experience working with either elementary or middle school children.
  3. Experience with child-directed and inquiry-based learning.
  4. Must support and practice imaginative, engaging and learner-centered education and be able to work individually and collaboratively in team environment.
  5. Must have an outgoing personality, enjoy interacting with children, and possess a love for lifelong learning.
  6. Must be comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
  7. Be on time to supervise students.
  8. Must be able to pass background check.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned by the ASMS President/Director.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires the ability to present yourself in a professional manner, communicate, listen to others, observe others’ actions, read text and information, comprehend instructions and manuals, plan and organize, and physically move about the school.

Classification and Pay: Adjunct, Contractor, flat rate $300.00/class
