Job summary

The Salvation Army seeks a School Age Summer Camp Instructor in Hartford, CT to support a stimulating program for ages 5–12. You will assist in planning and delivering enriching activities, with a focus on physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.

Responsibilities include coordinating with other instructors, maintaining a safe and organized environment, and participating in required meetings. Prior experience with children and CPR/First Aid certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Ability to develop a positive relationship and communicate effectively with school-age children and their families.
• Must possess a high school diploma or the equivalent.
• Must have prior experience working with children and their families.
• Current CPR and First Aid certificate preferred.
• Will promote the mission of The Salvation Army.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement age-appropriate activities with instructors.
• Ensure all children receive enriching educational programming.
• Foster a positive, diverse climate for ideas and learning.
• Assist with attendance, lesson plans, and health checks.
• Maintain classroom cleanliness and safety.
• Attend meetings and training sessions.
• Observe and record child progress and goals.
• Lead groups in STEM or STEAM activities and field trips.
