The Alice Ferguson Foundation is celebrating 71 years as an environmentally driven non-profit, 501c3 organization. Our mission is to inspire environmental stewardship by giving people the tools to understand, appreciate, and protect nature. Located on 330 acres of emergent wetlands, forests, meadows, farmland, and the longest freshwater Living Shoreline in the nation, our team has provided transformative environmental education experiences for over 1 million area students since 1954.

Position Summary

The Certified Medication Technician for Summer Adventure Camp will stay on-site for the overnight portion of two dedicated camp weeks and administer camper medications as needed. They are to coordinate with the camp’s on-call Registered Nurse to oversee medication authorization forms and to assist camp staff in administering first aid to campers when needed. Sleeping arrangements and meals provided.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Stay on-site at the environmental campus from evening to morning
  • Week 1 from July 16 to July 18
  • Arrive at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, July 16, to meet with the Camp Nurse
  • Required to be on-site from 5:00 PM to 9:00 AM during overnight sessions (Wednesday-Thursday & Thursday-Friday)
  • Week 2 from July 30 to August 1
  • Arrive at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, July 30, to meet with the Camp Nurse
  • Required to be on-site from 5:00 PM to 9:00 AM during overnight sessions (Wednesday-Thursday & Thursday-Friday)
  • Administer evening and morning medications to campers
  • Keep an organized health log of all camper medication and administration
  • Coordinate with the camp’s On-Call Nurse and Camp Director to:
  • Review camper health forms
  • Review camper asthma action plans
  • Understand the Summer Camp’s health protocol

Qualifications and Skills

  • Licensed as a Certified Medication Technician in the State of Maryland
  • Prior experience working with children
  • Understands the Maryland Department of Health requirements for Summer Camp
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work overnight hours
  • Employment is contingent upon an employee background check
