Job summary

The University of Utah Campus Camps program seeks instructors to develop and teach week-long camps for ages 6-17, in-person or online. Instructors design titles, descriptions and learning objectives, and deliver engaging curriculum across STEM, arts, cooking, and outdoor topics.

Instructors must attend pre-summer orientation and teach at least one full week, with half-day or full-day schedules. This seasonal role emphasizes safety, organization, and strong classroom management.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in the topic being taught.
• Experience working with kids in a classroom setting.
• Ability and desire to work in a temporary work-setting.
• Demonstrate good character, integrity and adaptability.
• Self-directed, punctual and highly organized.

Responsibilities

• Attend a pre-summer mandatory orientation.
• Teach at least 1 full week of camp. Camps can be half day (9am-12pm or 1pm-4pm) or full day (9am-3pm or 9am-4pm).
• Work with Youth Education staff to create title, description and learning objectives for your camp.
• Creating and teaching curriculum for assigned camps (with approval).
• Classroom and behavior management.
• Safety and welfare of students, a required Safety of Minors training will be provided.
• Creating supply lists for each camp (when applicable).
• Maintaining and keeping supplies/equipment in good condition (or alerting Youth Education of defective equipment).
• Keeping the classroom and surrounding area(s) neat and clean.
• Be familiar and follow through with Youth Education policies.
