Position Type: Seasonal full-time (Overnight Residential)

Are you a high school sophomore, junior, or senior looking to make a difference this summer? At Camp Hoblitzelle, we’re seeking enthusiastic students who are passionate about serving, learning, and being part of a supportive team. As a Dining Hall Attendant, you’ll play a key role in creating a positive camp experience for everyone. Your responsibilities will include assisting with meal preparation, setting up beverages and snacks, and keeping the kitchen and dining areas clean and welcoming.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Supervision and Guidance:
  • Provides guidance and positive role modeling to campers, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Assists in activities for the assigned group of campers in alignment with the camp schedule.
  • Demonstrates Christian values and principles in all interactions, serving as a positive example for campers.
  • Utilizes effective camper behavior management and appropriate communication and discipline techniques as trained.
  • Promotes camper participation to enhance their overall camp experience.
  • Enforces compliance with camp rules, safety, and health regulations within the dining facility.

Assists in preparing the dining facility for mealtimes; setting tables, preparing beverage stations, and other duties as assigned. Supports meal preparation and service in the kitchen as directed by the Dining Room Supervisor. Supervises assigned areas during meals, maintaining a positive, relaxed atmosphere and encouraging safety and camaraderie among campers and staff. Participates in cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, dishwashing, and sanitizing, ensuring areas are kept clean and safe. Reports any safety hazards to the Dining Hall Supervisor.

  1. Community Engagement:
  • Participates actively in activities when not in a dining attendant role, contributing to a lively camp environment and fostering engagement.
  • Participates enthusiastically in all-camp activities, evening programs, and special events.
  • Embarks on a journey as part of the Service and Leadership Training (MIRA) program, supporting camp counselors and mentoring campers, while experiencing life in a Christian community, engaging in discipleship, and growing in faith.
  • Promotes and embodies the values of Camp Hoblitzelle’s summer camp program, encouraging campers to embrace these values.
  • Integrates faith into daily activities, contributing to campers' spiritual growth.

Program & Activities Assistance: Assists with camp program activities and other tasks, collaborating with team members and promoting safety and quality. Engages in ministry duties, including sharing devotional content, participating in prayer, and attending worship times.

Safety and Security: Ensures the safety and security of campers during all activities. Reports accidents and hazards promptly, following camp procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Must be aged 15-17 years old.
  • Possess a heart for others and a commitment to Christ.
  • Be self-motivated and teachable.
  • Prior training in Food Service, Child Education, Children’s Ministry, or similar is recommended but not required.
  • Willing to abide by Camp Hoblitzelle’s doctrinal statement and policies.
  • CPR & First Aid Certified or capable of passing qualification (training provided).

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Includes endurance activities like climbing, standing, bending, stooping, and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination, manual dexterity, hearing, eyesight, and ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Willing to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours, with exposure to sun, heat, and environmental conditions.
