Summer Camp Counselor (Westchester/Playa Vista)

Join us for a joyful, mission-driven summer as a Summer Camp Counselor (or Team Leader). You will be the core presence for each camper, guiding them through a safe, engaging, and impactful experience. This seasonal role involves working full-time Monday through Friday.

Core Responsibilities

  1. Lead and Supervise Campers: Supervise groups of 15+ campers weekly, creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment. Foster connections through activities and manage behavior using restorative practices. Collaborate with instructors on project-based curriculum delivery and support in preparing learning materials. Participate in extended care programming before and after camp hours.
  2. Engage in All Camp Activities: Help plan and run daily activities, lead campers during ceremonies and meals, and energize camp events with songs and skits. Work as part of a team to ensure joyful and memorable experiences.
  3. Provide Exceptional Customer Service: Greet families warmly, follow check-in/out procedures, and communicate with families to ensure positive camper experiences.

Build Your Skills with Ongoing Training and Support

Complete paid online training, attend in-person setup days, and develop professionally through feedback and hands-on learning guided by camp leaders.

Compensation

Starting at $18.24/hour for first-year staff, with increases based on tenure. Benefits include a free camp week for your child, discounts, scholarship nominations, and membership in the Galileo Alumni Community.

Requirements include prior experience working with children, ability to work full camp duration, background checks, certifications, and availability for 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday. Applicants must be at least 18 years old by May 12, 2025. Bilingual skills and college coursework are a plus.

Schedule

Camp operates Monday through Friday with shifts starting as early as 7:00 a.m. and ending as late as 6:30 p.m. Pre-camp training and setup days are required, with specific dates varying by location.

Physical Demands
