SUMMER CAMP COUNSELOR

This is a 2-week, part-time seasonal position, Monday to Friday, 9:00am-3:30pm – a great opportunity for someone looking to earn extra money during the summer but still have time for their own personal activities.

Job begins on July 10th, 2025 and ends on July 29th, 2025.

Job Summary

Wesley Housing is seeking enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join our team as Summer Camp Counselors. As a summer camp counselor, you will play an important role in creating a fun and safe environment for campers. This position offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of younger children while gaining valuable experience in teamwork and recreational planning.

Summer Camp Counselors help set up, assist in running, and clean-up from activities for children during summer day camp programs taking place at Wesley Housing Community Resource Centers. Counselors report to full-time Wesley Housing staff, on-site Resident Service Coordinators. The Summer Camp Counselor must be a teenager at least 14 years of age, enrolled in high school with reliable transportation to report at the Wesley Housing property where camp will be held. The camp counselor will help supervise activities for seniors and children ages 6-13.

Essential Functions:
  1. Assist in setting up and running daily camp activities for elementary aged children, including sports, arts and crafts, games, cooking, martial arts lessons, music, and field trips.
  2. Accompany children on field trips and organize a buddy system.
  3. Foster positive relationships with campers by providing guidance, support, and encouragement throughout the camp experience.
  4. Serve as a positive role model for campers by demonstrating respect, safety, and responsibility in all interactions.
  5. Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming camp environment.
  6. Adhere to all camp and company policies, procedures, and safety protocols to ensure the well-being of campers and staff.
  7. Immediately notify supervisor or other adult staff member of any safety, health or other emergency issues.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  1. Able to arrive on time and maintain punctuality and good attendance.
  2. Able to speak, play with, listen to, and interact with camp participants, to assist them in having a rewarding camp experience.
  3. Able to track and enter work hours daily on computer or mobile app.

Physical Job Requirements

  1. Able to remain standing, walking, and moving throughout an entire workday.
  2. Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds, especially while preparing for and tearing down activities.
