As a Counselor (Program Aide), you will play a vital role in supporting the Counselor (Program Lead) in providing a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for young children. Your enthusiasm, dedication, and passion for early childhood education will contribute to the success of our preschool program.

Requirements:

The Counselor (Program Aide) must meet the qualifications set forth by the YMCA of South Hampton Roads and the Virginia Department of Education, Division of Child Care Health and Safety. Minimum qualifications include:

1. Be at least 16 years of age.
2. Work under the supervision of an individual qualified to be a Program Lead.
3. Have good character and reputation.
4. Obtain CPR/First Aid certifications within 30 days of hire.
5. Complete all pre-employment requirements, including background checks.
6. Possess adequate speaking, hearing, and writing skills for interacting with children.
7. Be punctual and reliable for scheduled shifts.
8. Ability to work at various program locations is preferred.
9. Develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
