Summer Camp Counselor (Galileo X Pomona Unified) - Washington Elementary

Join us for a joyful, mission-driven summer as a Summer Camp Counselor, where you'll be the core presence for each camper, guiding them through a safe, engaging, and impactful experience. This seasonal role involves working full-time, Monday through Friday.

Core Responsibilities

1. Lead and Supervise Campers: Supervise groups of 15+ campers, fostering a safe, inclusive environment; facilitate group activities and manage behavior through restorative practices; collaborate with instructors to deliver project-based curriculum in STEM fields; support extended care programming.
2. Engage in All Camp Activities: Plan and lead daily activities, ceremonies, and camp songs; ensure safety and foster a joyful atmosphere.
3. Provide Exceptional Customer Service: Greet families warmly, manage check-in/out procedures, and communicate with families about camper experiences.

Training and Support

Complete paid online training, attend in-person setup days, and develop professionally through feedback and hands-on learning.

Compensation

Starting at $17.65/hour for first-year staff, with higher rates for returning staff based on tenure. Benefits include a free week of camp for your child, discounts, scholarship nominations, and membership in our alumni community.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience supervising children in camp, school, childcare, or related fields.
• Ability to complete background checks, certifications, and online onboarding prior to camp.
• Availability for 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday, for at least 4 weeks.
• Must be at least 18 years old by May 12, 2025.

Schedule

Camp operates Monday through Friday, with shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Specific dates vary by location. Pre-camp training and setup days are required, with some scheduled on weekends.
