Job Description

As a Summer Camp Counselor (or Team Leader), you’ll be the core presence for each camper, guiding them through a safe, impactful, and engaging summer experience. You will stay with the same group all week, creating a supportive environment that values both physical and emotional safety. This is a seasonal, full-time role, Monday - Friday.

Core Responsibilities
  1. Lead and Supervise Campers:
    • Supervise groups of 15+ campers weekly, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and engaging experience.
    • Foster group connection through activities and interactions.
    • Manage camper behavior and support diverse needs using restorative practices.
    • Collaborate with instructors on Galileo’s curriculum, integrating STEM subjects.
    • Assist in preparing materials and setting up learning spaces.
    • Support extended care programming before and after camp hours.
  2. Engage In All Camp Activities:
    • Plan, set up, and lead daily activities with teammates.
    • Lead campers during ceremonies, snacks, and meals, maintaining safety and spirit.
    • Participate in camp songs, chants, and skits to energize events.
    • Contribute to joyful and memorable camp experiences.
  3. Provide Exceptional Customer Service:
    • Welcome campers and families enthusiastically.
    • Follow check-in/out procedures for safety and efficiency.
    • Communicate with families about camper experiences as needed.
  4. Build Skills with Training and Support:
    • Complete paid online training before camp.
    • Attend pre-camp setup and training days.
    • Develop professionally through feedback and hands-on learning.
Compensation

Starting at $17.25/hour for new staff, with higher rates for returning staff based on tenure. We value pay transparency and equity.

Qualifications
  • Experience supervising groups of children.
  • At least 1 year of related experience.
  • College coursework in Education or Child Development is a plus.
  • Ability to multitask with enthusiasm.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
  • Availability for 8-hour shifts, Monday - Friday, for at least 4 weeks.
  • Must be 18+ years old by May 12, 2025.
Colorado State Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Verification of 460 hours experience with children.
  • Completion of CO licensing requirements, including background checks.

Schedule

Camp operates Monday - Friday with shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Requires pre-camp training and setup days.
