Kids Connection Elementary in Foster City has job openings for Summer / Seasonal Camp Counselors to work at our camp program with elementary school-aged children (Kindergarten - 5th grade) from mid-June to August. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to start their career in education or seeking a rewarding job outside of school!

The Camp Counselor will be responsible for implementing appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to foster students' intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. The Recreational Counselor will be respectful of children and parents and ensure that equipment and facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained. Counselors will oversee children through a schedule of activities such as science projects, cooking, arts & crafts, outdoor sports, reading, board games, and more.

Summer Recreational Counselors may also have the opportunity to continue working as Extended Day / Year-Round counselors during the school year based on performance and availability (September through early June, 2-6 PM). Tuition reimbursement is available for Child Development courses taken.

Must be able to work Monday to Friday, full day shifts between 8 am - 6 pm with appropriate breaks.

Pay Range: $17.50 - $19.00

Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years old by June 1st, 2024
  • Preferred: High school diploma (or GED), college coursework in Education or Child Development, experience in a school, camp, or childcare setting
  • Pediatric CPR certification (can be obtained during onboarding)
  • Current Lifescan and passing licensing requirements with government authorities
Qualifications and Duties
  • Implement daily lesson and activity plans, running age-appropriate projects
  • Meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of children in the program
  • Establish routines and provide positive guidance for all participants, regardless of skills, abilities, or age
  • Participate enthusiastically in all camp activities, both on and off campus
  • Support and coach campers across diverse age groups and abilities
  • Collaborate with Junior Counselors to implement programming and support camp leadership
  • Supervise all participants to ensure safety at all times and locations
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with campers, staff, and the community
  • Maintain a professional, positive relationship with staff
  • Provide excellent customer service to campers, families, and guardians
  • Ensure equipment and facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained
  • Create a safe, comfortable environment for children
  • Experience working with children required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good physical health; able to lift up to 60 lbs
  • Self-motivated with a positive, enthusiastic attitude
