About Us

For over 90 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware has impacted thousands of lives across Delaware. We are the largest licensed provider of childcare in Delaware and the only statewide Boys & Girls Club in the nation.

Each day, girls and boys are left to find their own recreation and companionship. An increasing number of kids are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need a place in their community where they can go. Clubs provide a safe haven for youth, allow them to meet with friends, and be part of positive peer groups. Club programs teach life skills, conflict resolution, and focus on character development. Clubs also provide members with positive role models and a nurturing environment that helps improve decision-making skills.

Position Summary

At Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware, we aim to create a memorable summer for our campers. We are looking for fun, engaging, motivated staff to join our team. You will assist in developing and effectively operating a quality summer club program for school-age children that complies with current Delacare rules for school-age centers.

Essential Functions

• Perform all responsibilities in compliance with current state licensing requirements for school-age childcare centers; address non-compliance issues as needed.
• Deliver a variety of age-appropriate programs and activities reflecting Boys & Girls Club’s core program areas and Youth Development Strategy for children ages 6–12.
• Incorporate “high yield learning activities” in all childcare programs.
• Help ensure safe implementation of all programs and activities, including equipment condition, age-appropriateness, ability levels, weather considerations, and proper use of supplies.
• Supervise children and youth within guidelines established by Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware and in compliance with licensing regulations.
• Meet Office of Childcare Licensing annual training requirements (18 hours).
• Develop and maintain relationships with parents, school staff, community leaders, and supporters.
• Present yourself as a positive role model for youth at all times.
• Adhere to policies and practices of BGCDE.
• Contribute to a positive community presence for the Boys & Girls Clubs.
• Perform other tasks and responsibilities as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Level I

• 18 years of age or older
• School Age Site Assistant Certificate

Level II

• 20 years of age or older, ability to drive an 8-passenger van (valid license with less than 5 points)
• First Aid/CPR Certification or completion within two months of hire
• School Age Site Coordinator Certificate from the Department of Education

Level III

• School Age Site Coordinator Administrator certificate from the Department of Education
• 20 years of age or older, ability to drive an 8-passenger van
• First Aid/CPR Certification or completion within two months of hire

Physical and Mental Requirements

• Maintain high energy levels.
• Comfortable working with children ages 3-12 in various physical activities.
• Lift, carry, or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Bend, stoop, walk, and sometimes run during activities.
