Job summary

The Bay Club Company is seeking a Camp Counselor to implement camp activities for children aged 3 to 15 at our Bellevue location. You will help create a safe, clean, and fun environment while following department guidelines and standards.

Responsibilities include organizing age-appropriate activities, supervising campers, coordinating with parents, and participating in camp events and training. CPR/First Aid certification is required, and weekend/evening shifts may be required.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Family Programming Director, the Camp Counselor is responsible for implementing camp activities for children ages 3 to 15 years old; ensuring a safe, clean, fun environment; and executing the department’s established guidelines and standards.

Primary Job Functions

• Organize Campers ages 3 to 15 years old
• Provide a safe, clean environment including picking up toys, wiping down equipment and counters, and cleaning workspaces after activities such as art and lunch
• Ensure that all campers are supervised at all times
• Ensure that all items on the opening and closing operations checklists are completed
• Greet parents and children with a smile; invite children to join activities
• Ensure interaction with children at all times; ensure all children are engaged, comfort and assist all children in need
• Organize and implement age-appropriate activities such as sports scrimmages, arts & crafts, and group games
• Transfer campers to and from activities within the Club and offsite locations when applicable
• Ensure children are treated with responsive respectfulness, i.e. coached vs. scolded; discuss behavior tactfully and out of range of child’s hearing
• Communicate timely and follow up as appropriate
• Actively participate in camp events, programs, staff meetings, training sessions, and marketing efforts related to the camp.
• Represent the club in a professional manner through image, dress, communication, and immediate follow through and response
• Communicate important information to parents in a detailed and professional manner

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum one (1) year of experience caring for children in daycare or Camp environment
• Professional, friendly manner and excellent customer service attitude and abilities

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

• Ability to arrive at work on time for all scheduled work shifts required. Ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays required.
• Must be flexible, adaptable, and readily able to adjust to changes in work environment.
• Position requires daily public contact.
• It is sometimes necessary to deal with unpleasant or angry people with the need to problem solve difficult situations.
• It is necessary to adapt to a frequently changing environment.
• Frequently required to climb or balance and occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Must occasionally sit for extended periods and regularly walk around the facility.
• Must occasionally talk and hear.
• Must frequently move 10 pounds and often lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required but this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.

Estimated Base Pay Range

$18.00 - $21.00 per hour
