Camp Hoblitzelle is looking for an enthusiastic and responsible individual to lead and coordinate engaging activities for the children of our year-round staff. In this role, you’ll ensure the highest quality of care by prioritizing safety, fostering personal growth, encouraging learning, and creating a fun, nurturing environment.

From organizing daily schedules to planning creative and memorable experiences, you’ll play a key role in shaping a positive, supportive summer for both the kids and the camp team. As a leader and role model, your energy and dedication will leave a lasting impression.

Key responsibilities:

1. Supervision and Guidance:

• Provides guidance and positive role modeling to assigned staff children and campers, ensuring their safety and well-being.
• Plans, implements, and coordinates activities as needed, according to daily schedule, for assigned group.
• Demonstrates Christian values and principles in all interactions, serving as a positive example.
• Demonstrates effective behavior management and utilizes appropriate communication and discipline techniques as trained, when required.
• Promotes and stimulates activity and participation to enhance their overall camp experience.

2. Group Management:

• Lives with a group of campers, assisting each staff member's child(ren) in adjusting to camp life.
• Enforces compliance with camp rules, safety, and health regulations within the group.
• Supervises clean-up and organization details, ensuring a safe, clean, and organized living space.
• Sits with staff children and/or camper tables during meals, serving as a table monitor. Maintains a positive, relaxed atmosphere during mealtimes, encouraging conversation and camaraderie among kids.
• Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and reports on activities, development progress, and discipline.

3. Camp Community Engagement:

• Actively promotes and embodies the values of Camp Hoblitzelle's summer camp program, fostering an environment that aligns with the camp's mission and principles. • Participates enthusiastically as a team member in all-camp activities, evening programs, and special events as directed with schedule.
• Integrates faith into daily activities, contributing to the spiritual growth and development of staff kids and campers within the Christian camp community.

4. Program & Activities Assistance:

• Assists with camp program activities and other assigned tasks, collaborating closely with camp program, instructional staff and other team members.
• Promotes quality of programs and safety of campers at all times, in cooperation with camp rules and regulations.
• Engages in essential ministry duties, including sharing approved devotional content, participating in prayer sessions and camp worship times.

5. Safety and Security:

• Ensures the accountability, security, and safety of children and campers during all camp activities.
• Reports all accidents to supervisors promptly and accurately, following camp procedures.

What we are looking for in you:

• Must be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate or GED preferred.
• A heart for others and a mind towards Christ.
• Should be self-motivated and teachable.
• Prior knowledge and skills training in Child Education, Children’s Ministry, Outdoor/Sports Education or similar field is recommended but not required .
• A willingness to abide by Camp Hoblitzelle’s doctrinal statement and policies.
• CPR & First Aid Certified or capable of passing qualification (Cert. opportunities provided during Staff Training week.)
• Must be able to pass a state and federal background check.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Some physical requirements of the Camp Childcare position could be endurance including climbing, standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate activities are required. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Have a willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours delivering a program in the facility available. Operate with daily exposure to the sun and heat and varying environmental conditions.
