Job Opening:

The Department of Conservation and Recreation seeks applicants for the position of Seasonal Laborer II.

DUTIES:

  1. Perform manual labor tasks to assist skilled tradesmen such as carpenters, plumbers, and masons.
  2. Assist in installing drainage, sewer, and water pipelines, including positioning, joining, and sealing pipe sections and culverts.
  3. Digs trenches and excavations, refills excavations, and levels materials using hand tools.
  4. Set and repair curbing; patch pavements with appropriate materials to maintain safe roadways and sidewalks.
  5. Install, repair, and maintain signs using hand or power tools.
  6. Plant, prune, fertilize, and maintain trees, flowers, shrubs, and lawns; perform landscaping and beautification tasks.
  7. Load and unload supplies, operate hand-held power tools, and perform inventory tasks.
  8. Operate motor vehicles such as trucks and light vehicles for assigned activities.
  9. Perform other related duties as assigned, working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Salaries are based on a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week. Work schedules, including weekends and holidays, are at the discretion of the supervisor. This position may be assigned to any of the 3 locations within Pilgrim Memorial oversight, with possible daily location changes.

Minimum Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have at least six months of full-time or equivalent part-time manual labor experience related to construction or maintenance work.
