Job summary

Blue Origin LLC invites applications for an Avionics Software Intern to work with our engineering teams on projects spanning orbital rockets, ground systems, test stands, and moon landers.

You will gain hands-on experience with design, development, and testing of avionics software and hardware, mentored by experienced engineers. Housing and relocation support are offered; interns travel to work locations daily.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted as refugee or asylum seeker.
• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program with at least one semester or quarter remaining after the internship.
• Completed at least one year of full-time coursework post high school graduation at the time of application (sophomore standing).
• Available to work full time for 15 weeks while not enrolled in coursework.
• Strong written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong interest in Blue's mission!
• Experience with Git, Docker, Kubernetes, React and related tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design, development and testing of avionics software and hardware.
• Collaborate with aerospace engineering teams across programs from orbital rockets to moon landers.
• Provide hands-on contribution to software development life cycle, including requirements analysis and testing.
• Triage and fix software issues at server and client levels where applicable.

As part of a hardworking team, interns work directly with Blue engineering teams on projects in support of our business units. Avionics Software Intern projects vary but can include the design, development and testing of avionics hardware and software for programs ranging from orbital rockets, ground systems, test stands, to moon landers. During your internship experience, you can expect to: Gain hands on, real-world experience. Receive mentorship and feedback from mentors and managers. Participate in events to learn about other parts of our organization.

Desired

We love to see hands-on experience and extracurricular engagement! As a part of a passionate team of engineers, you will contribute to the software development life cycle including requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, and maintenance. Based upon your placement, your projects may involve many aspects of applied systems analysis, software testing, quality assurance, DevOps, data analysis. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to understand their needs and design solutions that accelerate all phases of vehicle development, testing, and operations. Troubleshoot and fix software issues at multiple levels, including both server-side and client side.

Additional skills

• Experience with on-premises and cloud-based infrastructures, particularly AWS.
• Experience with modern development tools and practices such as git, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with rich user experience development in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks like React.
• Experience developing and testing real-time embedded systems, vehicle or industrial control systems, gaming systems, device drivers, or mobile devices.

We offer housing and relocation support. Interns are responsible for daily transportation to and from their work locations.

Hourly compensation for applicant is: $32.00
