Job summary

Covia is seeking an Operations Intern to support the Operations Team at multiple Covia locations, including Wedron, IL. The internship provides hands-on learning across plant operations and a defined project to improve operations.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Learn and adhere to Covia safety principles including PPE and MSHA regulations.
• Work with the Mine Superintendent and Mine Supervisor to understand mining processes (drilling, blasting, haulage, surveying, sampling).
• Work with Plant Superintendent and Shift Supervisors to understand grinding, flotation, drying, screening, loading.
• Work with Quality Control Supervisor to learn quality control, data management, reporting, continuous improvement.
• Work with Environmental Supervisor to learn permitting, regulatory requirements and reclamation.
• Work with Maintenance Supervisor to learn preventative and corrective maintenance, purchasing, scheduling.
• Assist salaried staff with technical problems and/or projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
