Job summary

Covia is seeking an Operations Intern to support the Operations Team at Covia locations, including Portage, WI. The internship runs from May 17, 2027 to August 7, 2027, offering hands-on exposure to mining processes, grinding, flotation, QA, and regulatory-related tasks.

The role requires pursuing an engineering degree and strong communication, analytical, and teamwork skills; interns will learn safety principles and assist staff on technical projects within a dynamic, diverse environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Engineering (mining, mechanical, industrial, chemical, etc.) or a related field from an accredited university.
• Interested in developing a career in Operations.
• Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to think logically and communicate ideas clearly.
• Willingness to thrive in a diverse group dynamic.
• Demonstrate analytical and business skills.

Responsibilities

• Learn and adhere to Covia safety principles including PPE and MSHA regulations.
• Gain understanding of mining processes, grinding, flotation, drying, and loading.
• Support Quality Control, data management, and continuous improvement activities.
• Assist environmental and maintenance teams on regulatory and maintenance tasks.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
