Job summary

Lutron Electronics in Virginia is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Intern to join our team at the Virginia Manufacturing Facility. You will contribute to high‑impact projects and help shape how our smart lighting and shading products are built at scale.

You will gain hands‑on experience, learn from senior engineers, and work in a supportive, team‑oriented environment with opportunities for mentorship and practical skill building.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
  • GPA at least 3.20.
  • Rising junior, rising senior, or master's student at internship start.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.
  • Willingness to work on-site five days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product design, production plant, and tooling teams to design consumer products for high-volume manufacturability.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturing (DfM) and Design for Assembly (DfA) concepts to analyze new products.
  • Assist with assembly line design and process development to meet labor and quality goals.
  • Drive active projects in partnership with cross-functional teams.
  • Learn and apply new tools and technologies to enhance system performance, reliability, and scalability.

Overview

Lutron is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Intern to join our collaborative team based out of the Virginia Manufacturing Facility and contribute to high-impact projects. In this role, you will help shape how our industry’s leading smart lighting and shading products are built at scale.

Responsibilities

Your internship at Lutron could offer you the opportunity to work on:

  • Collaboration with product design, production plant, and tooling teams to design consumer products for high‑volume manufacturability
  • Design for Manufacturing (DfM) and Design for Assembly (DfA) concepts to analyze new products
  • Assembly line design and process development to meet labor and quality goals
  • Driving active projects in partnership with cross‑functional teams
  • Learning and applying newly adopted tools and technologies to enhance system performance, reliability, and scalability
Qualifications

We seek talented, success‑minded people with the desire and ability to make things happen. Our baseline requirements are simple:

  • You are pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
  • Your cumulative GPA is at least 3.20
  • You are a rising junior, rising senior, or master's student at the start of the internship
  • You have broad interests in engineering, design and development
  • You are authorized to work in the U.S. and will not require Lutron to sponsor you for any work visa, such as an H‑1B, either immediately or at any time in the future. Lutron does not offer work visa sponsorship for this position.
  • Willingness and ability to work on‑site 5 days per week

Starting pay: $26.50 to $39.00 per hour plus relocation assistance.
