Job summary

State Farm's Nicholas J. Ryan & Associates in Miami, FL invites 2L ABA‑accredited law students to join the Summer Intern Program with the Miami Claims Litigation Counsel office. Interns will assist attorneys on projects, observe litigation, and participate in mentoring throughout the summer in a hybrid in-office/remote setting.

Dates are June 2, 2027 to August 11, 2027, full-time hours (38.75 per week). Pay is $33/hour plus a $2,000 stipend, with remote and in-office work as arranged.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Nicholas J. Ryan & Associates, in-house counsel for State Farm, announces the Summer 2027 Intern Program for the Miami, Florida, Claims Litigation Counsel office. Claims Litigation Counsel attorneys defend State Farm and its customers who have been sued. Summer interns work with attorneys on assigned projects, attend case events, and observe every phase of the litigation process. They benefit from mentoring throughout the summer, gain a balanced and realistic understanding of the function of Claims Litigation Counsel, and develop real‑world civil litigation skills. This full‑time internship runs from Wednesday June 2, 2027, through Wednesday August 11, 2027. We work in a hybrid environment with required presence in the office as well as some time working from home. Work arrangements could change over time based on business needs.

Located in Miami, Florida, we enjoy an active civil trial practice throughout Miami‑Dade County. We provide a congenial and team‑oriented professional work environment with skilled support staff.

Qualifications

• 2L students enrolled in an ABA accredited law school. Interns must remain enrolled for the duration of the internship and have at least one term remaining following the internship.
• Strong academic credentials.
• Strong research skills including familiarity with Lexis.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Internship Details

• Summer Internship Dates: 6/2/27 - 8/11/2027
• Hours: Monday-Friday, 38.75 hours per week
• Due to the short duration of the summer program, it is an expectation that hired interns will be available for the duration of the summer internship with little to no disruption in work schedule.
• Pay: $33/hour. In addition, interns selected for our summer internship program will be eligible for a $2,000 stipend!
• Work Arrangement: HYBRID - Selected interns should plan to spend time working in the office as well as some time working from home. Please note that relocation benefits will not apply.
