State Farm is offering a Software Developer Intern position that partners with a seasoned team to build innovative solutions. The internship runs from June 2, 2027 to August 11, 2027 in a hybrid mode with some office work in Richardson, TX.

You will work on Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Dataverse, and REST APIs, gain real-world software development experience, and receive mentorship, training, and networking opportunities.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate student majoring in CS/Software Engineering with graduation date after Dec 2027.
• Minimum GPA 3.25; include on resume.
• Experience with Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Dataverse, REST APIs.
• Familiarity with Azure AD, Git, SQL, JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Able to write clear documentation and debug logically.

Responsibilities

State Farm Human Resources & Development (HR&D) Workforce Technology group is seeking a Software Developer Intern that is looking to share their knowledge and continue their personal growth with application and process automation development. We are looking for those who are passionate about creating custom solutions that address our business problems and support our strategic vision. We are seeking an aspiring Software Developer with a knack for developing innovative solutions that provide the best user experience.

This is an opportunity for developers to challenge themselves and learn a unique technical stack, experiment with evolving frameworks and platforms, while pushing the boundaries on what is possible with our custom solutions.

As a Software Developer Intern, you will have the opportunity to:

• Work with an experienced Software Developer team
• Generate your own ideas and take charge of developing code to bring them to life
• Contribute to Sprint planning by providing estimates for completing product stories
• Enjoy the freedom to be creative and design code according to your preferences
• Engage in peer code reviews to ensure code quality and collaboration
• Lead the design of solutions, taking into account risks, performance, user experience, and testability
• Collaborate with business areas to review user interfaces and ensure that desired outcomes are achieved

Qualifications

We are seeking current junior or senior college students who possess or can demonstrate:

• An undergraduate program majoring in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Software Development, Information Technology, or Systems Engineering with a graduation date of December 2027 or later
• A minimum GPA of 3.25 preferred (please include on your resume)
• Experience in:
  • Power Apps (Canvas model-driven familiarity) and Power Fx
  • Power Automate (flows, connectors, error handling, approvals)
  • Power BI (DAX basics, data modeling, report performance)
  • Dataverse concepts (tables, relationships, security roles)
  • Integration fundamentals (REST APIs, connectors, triggers)
  • Microsoft ecosystem comfort (Azure AD / Entra ID, environments, solutions, ALM)
  • SQL (basic-to-intermediate), especially for data shaping/reporting
  • JavaScript/TypeScript basics (often helpful for custom components and portal/web scenarios)
  • Git and Agile practices
  • Ability to write clear documentation and debug logically

Internship Program Eligibility

To be eligible for the summer internship program, you must be a full-time student currently enrolled in an undergraduate or post-graduate program throughout the duration of the internship. Selected interns must reside within the continental U.S. for the duration of the summer internship.

What You Can Expect

• The internship will occur between June 2, 2027 - August 11, 2027 (10 weeks)
• Hours:Monday-Friday, 38.75 hours per week

• Pay: $28/hour. In addition, interns selected for our summer internship program will be eligible for a $2,000 stipend (minus applicable taxes)!

• Competitive candidates will be invited to participate in a pre-screening video

** Due to the short duration of the summer program, it is an expectation that hired interns will be available for the duration of the summer internship with little to no disruption in work schedule.

Work Arrangement

HYBRID: Selected interns should plan to spend time working from home and some time working in the office as part of our hybrid work environment. Please note that relocation benefits will not apply.
