Salesforce, Inc. is offering a Summer 2027 Intern - Forward Deployed Engineer for the Global Public Sector. This remote, 12-week program provides AI-driven development work, mentorship from senior engineers, and exposure to agent-based AI solutions.

The role involves shadowing engineers in customer sessions, building AI agents, writing prompts, and delivering a capstone project. You should be pursuing a CS degree and have experience with Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or Apex.

Qualifications

• US citizenship is required.
• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or Apex; willingness to learn others.
• Some experience with LLMs and prompt engineering from classes, projects, or internships.
• Basic understanding of APIs, databases, and data modeling.

Responsibilities

• Shadow Forward Deployed Engineers and Deployment Strategists in customer meetings and working sessions to see how problems become AI solutions.
• Contribute to building AI agents that take real actions for organizations.
• Write and test prompts; improve agent reasoning and tool use.
• Own an intern project (tool, prototype, or accelerator) for customer solutions.
• Help build data pipelines and connect systems using Salesforce Data 360, Snowflake, or Databricks.
• Help build dashboards that track agent performance and present results.

Location: Remote | Program Duration: 12 weeks

The Experience

• AI-powered development: Build with tools like Cursor, Claude, and Salesforce coding products such as Vibes.
• Mentorship: Learn from engineers who have shipped AI systems at scale.
• Behind-the-scenes access: Sit in on customer working sessions and project reviews to see how real solutions are scoped, built, and delivered.
• Frontier access: Work on Agentforce and Salesforce's evolving AI platform. Your feedback goes straight to product teams.
• Curiosity encouraged: Try new AI tools, models, and frameworks, and share what you learn.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

• Shadow Forward Deployed Engineers and Deployment Strategists in customer meetings and working sessions. You'll learn how business problems become AI solutions.
• Contribute to the build of AI agents that take real actions for real organizations.
• Write and test prompts, and improve how agents reason and use tools.
• Own an intern project, such as a tool, prototype, or internal accelerator, that may be used in customer solutions.
• Help build data pipelines and connect systems using Salesforce Data 360, Snowflake, or Databricks.
• Help build dashboards that track agent performance.
• Build proofs-of-concept that go quickly from idea to working demo.
• Present your work and share ideas with senior engineers and the product team, culminating in a capstone project presentation at the end of the 12-week program.

You're Our Person If...

• U.S. citizenship is required, as this role involves work with U.S. Government agencies.
• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience in at least one of Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or Apex, and a willingness to learn others.
• Some experience with LLMs and prompt engineering, through class projects, personal projects, hackathons, or prior internships.
• A basic understanding of APIs, databases, and data modeling.
• Relevant coursework, internships, or activities aligned to the skills for this role, such as class or personal projects, hackathons, open source, or student organizations.
• Strong communication skills and comfort working with technical and non-technical teammates.
• Curiosity about AI. You experiment with new tools and models on your own.
• A collaborative, team-first attitude.

Even Better If...

• Salesforce Trailhead badges or certifications (Administrator, Platform Developer I, Agentforce Specialist).
• Exposure to agent frameworks like LangChain or LlamaIndex.
• Experience with cloud data platforms like Snowflake, Databricks, or BigQuery
• Interest in public sector, higher education, or nonprofit work.
