Job summary

The Progressive Companies Summer Internship Program is a paid, full-time experience designed to launch your career. As an Electrical Engineering Intern, you will work with project managers and electrical engineers to design electrical systems for various project building types, using AutoCAD and Revit,

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an ABET-accredited Electrical Engineering Bachelor’s degree program.
• At least one year of undergraduate studies completed by Summer 2027.
• Strong math, analytical, design and problem-solving skills, and ability to communicate well.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Experience with Project, SharePoint and Teams is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the project team to help meet project schedules and budgets.
• Manage multiple projects in a timely, accurate manner, monitoring progress against project scope and resources.
• Provide drafting services and final engineering documents to Progressive’s standards.
• Assist in preparing building models, contract documents, and photometric lighting simulations.
• Check code compliance information as it relates to the discipline.
• Collaborate with project managers and designers to understand design changes.
• Use Revit, AutoCAD, ElumTools, Visual Lighting Software, and Easy Power for presentation and production.

Job description

The Progressive Companies Summer Internship Program is a paid, full-time experience designed to launch your career. You'll take part in hands-on client projects, sharpen your problem-solving and communication skills, and gain a front-row seat to the world of architecture, design, engineering, and construction. Working alongside experienced mentors in a multi-disciplinary firm setting, you'll learn the tools and methods that build a strong foundation for your future career. Along the way, you'll take part in project site visits, volunteer outings, networking opportunities, and education sessions - all designed to fuel your career and your curiosity.

As an Electrical Engineering Intern, you will work collaboratively with project managers and electrical engineers to design electrical systems for various project building types. Typical work includes preparing design documents for power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, security systems, and communications using AutoCAD and Revit software.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the project team to help meet project schedules and budgets.
• Manage multiple projects in a timely, accurate manner, monitoring progress against project scope and available resources.
• Provide drafting services and final engineering documents consistent with Progressive’s standards.
• Assist in preparing building models, contract documents, and photometric lighting simulations consistent with Progressive Companies standards.
• Check code compliance information as it relates to the discipline and any effect it may have on other disciplines.
• Collaborate with project managers, designers, and technical leaders to understand changes to project design, scope, schedule, and budget.
• Use design software, including Revit, AutoCAD, ElumTools or Visual Lighting Software, and Easy Power, for presentation and production purposes.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in an EAC/ABET-accredited Electrical Engineering Bachelor’s degree program.
• At least one year of undergraduate studies completed by Summer 2027.
• Basic knowledge of sustainability and other trends in the design/construction industry.
• Strong math, analytical, design and problem-solving skills, and ability to communicate well.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook required. Experience in Project, SharePoint, and Teams preferred
