Job summary

Leonardo DRS invites applications for a Summer 2027 Digital Engineering Intern in Frederick, Maryland. The role focuses on digital hardware/FPGA design, hardware prototyping, integration and test, and/or digital signal processing, with tasks assigned under supervision to build foundational engineering experience.

Great candidates are engineering students in an accredited program, with strong communication skills, eagerness to learn, and willingness to participate in a full range of internship

Qualifications

  • Must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to build a network.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Previous internship/co-op experience preferred.
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited Electrical or Computer Engineering degree program (or related scientific/technical discipline) at a sophomore level or higher.
  • Engineering student; some progress towards engineering degree.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Relevant course studies may include: Single Chip Microcomputers, Intro to Computer Programming, Object-Oriented Programming, Introduction to Signal Analysis, Computer Architecture, Digital System Design, Electric Circuit Analysis, Computer Networking Protocols, FPGA/ASIC Design.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with and assist engineers in the conduct of various engineering assignments.
  • Carry out basic work instructions that will help in understanding the fundamentals of the Company and also learn new things.
  • Conduct limited scope testing under the supervision of engineers.
  • Complete assigned tasks on time.
  • Gather and assemble data for engineers.
  • May be required to help in research in a particular field.
  • Conduct design analysis and/or calculations under the supervision of engineers.
  • Assist engineers with appropriate design details.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills and have the ability to build a good network.
  • Perform a wide variety of tasks to gain familiarity with the engineering staff, methods, programs and practices.
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Other duties as assigned
