Job summary

Turner Construction Company in Syracuse, NY invites enrolled students to join our internship program for May/June through August 2027. This seasonal, full-time (40 hours/week) internship focuses on construction project management fundamentals, safety, and coordination, with mentorship from project engineers and managers.

This non-exempt position offers hands-on exposure to subcontractors, documentation, and field operations.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a college/university degree or Co-op program in a related field
• Must be 18 years of age to work on a construction site
• Desire to work in construction management and learn about the industry
• Commitment to standard business hours and overtime as determined by assignment
• Demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills in English
• Ability to read and comprehend written information
• Accountability for own actions and activities
• Proactive, curious, and eager to learn and participate
• Able to work independently or in a team environment
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Support project team with meeting coordination, material tracking, file management, document control, and progress reporting
• Comply with safety protocols and PPE requirements
• Provide progress reports to supervisor and learn about construction management
• Relate academic knowledge to work activities
• Maintain professional relationships with employees, customers, clients, and subcontractors
• Participate in training, meetings, and orientation
• Assist with project start-up, RFIs, submittals, and contract information
• Assist with estimates for changes in work from subcontractors
• Attend project site visits and observe field activities
• Assist with correspondence to architects, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors
• Coordinate with trades and subcontractors on schedules
• Monitor subcontractor safety program adherence
• Assist with quantity take-offs and project item studies
• Distribute subcontractor proposals and prepare delivery system proposals
• Assist with project closeout preparations
