The salary range for this position is $6,480–$10,308 and is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the college and SEIU, Local 1021.

Qualifications

Course: TED 502‑04 Teaching Emergent Multilingual Students.

In‑person – Moraga, CA campus. MW 4:30 pm–8:20 pm. Meets on 7/6, 7/8, 7/13, 7/15, 7/20, 7/22, 7/27, 7/29, 8/3, 8/5.

Responsibilities: The course prepares teacher candidates to support emergent multilingual students as general‑education elementary or secondary teachers or education specialists. Candidates learn how to scaffold and differentiate literacy and content instruction for students who are learning English, how to create opportunities for English language development across the curriculum, and how to use formative assessment practices to design culturally and linguistically responsive pedagogy. They also learn to collaborate with multilingual families to support their children’s learning.

• Master’s Degree in Education (or related field) and valid CA teaching credential.
• 5 years of experience teaching in K‑12 settings with significant numbers of English‑learning students; recent experience with the new ELD standards preferred.
• Experience designing and enacting scaffolded and differentiated literacy and content instruction for students at varying English‑language proficiency levels.
• Experience integrating English‑language development with content instruction.
• Knowledge of research and theory on second/additional language development, state and federal policies related to English learners, and instructional program models for students who are learning English.
• Teaching college‑level English‑language teaching preparation courses preferred but not required.

3. Seniority rotation above their average up to 25 CU.

For applicants not assigned after the 14‑day period, the course may be assigned to a new hire.
