Job description

Are you looking for a FUN Summer Job where you can make a difference? YMCA Family Camp Pinewood is hiring a Family Camp Aquatics Coordinator for Summer 2025!

The Aquatics Coordinator facilitates and supervises the day-to-day operation of the waterfront programs at YMCA Family Camp Pinewood.

Pay range starts at $700 bi-weekly, housing & meals provided

What you'll do:
  1. Organize interesting and safe programs that meet the camper's needs.
  2. Train staff in pool/waterfront safety standards and emergency procedures.
  3. Maintain high levels of safety standards and enforce strict safety rules at aquatic areas.
  4. Maintain high levels of lifeguard duty; address staff not upholding standards.
  5. Assist with the overall functions of the camp daily schedule.
  6. Ensure the safety and cleanliness of all aquatic areas and equipment.
  7. Assist in supervising counselors.
  8. Organize and teach waterfront search and supervise practice drills.
  9. Ensure security of the aquatic areas.
  10. Supervise camp staff working at the aquatic areas.
  11. Organize additional aquatic activities, such as swim parties, blobbing, etc.
  12. Manage aquatic keys loaned to staff during their time off.
  13. Report injuries and complete required forms to the Operations Director.
  14. Maintain a positive attitude.
  15. Help keep the camp clean by picking up litter.
  16. Report staff management issues promptly to the Camp Director and uphold staff integrity.
  17. Evaluate camper swimming abilities at session start.
  18. Implement a water safety program aligned with ACA, YMCA, and Red Cross standards.
  19. Serve as a positive role model embodying Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
  20. Follow procedures for opening and closing aquatic areas, ensuring they are secured when not in use.
  21. Lead staff training sessions.
  22. Assist with mid-summer and end-of-summer evaluations for counselors.
  23. Plan and execute camp waterfront programs and activities.
How you'll do it:
  1. At least 1-year aquatics and supervisory experience.
  2. Current YMCA or American Red Cross certifications, including First Aid, AED, CPR, and Oxygen Administration, or willingness to obtain upon hire.
  3. Physical ability to rescue a 200 lb. person and meet other physical requirements.
  4. Be alert to dangerous situations to ensure swimmer safety.
  5. Respond effectively to emergencies, administering CPR and First Aid as needed.
  6. Meet physical requirements outlined in the job description.
  7. Ability to communicate effectively with campers of all ages and skill levels.
