Job summary

Axiom Space is seeking a Suits Test Engineer to lead major testing campaigns for the AxEVA System. This role, based at our Gemini facility, involves planning and executing verification and validation activities. The ideal candidate will possess over 9 years of engineering experience, including at least three years in Testing or V&V, with preference given to those experienced in NASA human spaceflight programs.

Job description

Position Summary

We are looking for an energetic and dynamic Suits Test Engineer (SME) who will primarily be responsible for leading major testing campaigns for the AxEVA System. This position reports to EVA Systems Engineering and Integration Manager and is onsite at our Gemini facility.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement spacesuit verification and validation activities.
  • Define system, subsystem, and component verification approaches.
  • Define verification requirements.
  • Allocate verifications to verification activities.
  • Plan and coordinate implementation of activities.
  • Draft closure notice to perform verification close‑out.
  • Define and manage integrated Verification & Validation (V&V) test plans, procedures, and schedules across all engineering teams.
  • Define and coordinate verification requirements for suppliers as part of the integrated V&V plan.
  • Collaborate with spacesuit system and subsystem engineers, program office personnel, and customers for V&V planning, scheduling and execution.
  • Prepare test plans and presentations for peers, management, and external customers and partners.
  • Capture evidence from completed verification activities to create verification closure notices and coordinate requirement close‑out.
  • Perform other systems engineering tasks as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in aerospace, electrical, mechanical, or related engineering discipline.
  • Experience: 9+ years of engineering experience, including at least 3 years in Testing, V&V or an equivalent combination.
  • Full verification life cycle experience from concept to close‑out.
  • Desired: Experience with NASA human spaceflight programs and testing of spacecraft, spacesuits, and space vehicles.
  • Preferred: Experience with Space Suits and INCOSE CSEP certification.
  • Strong attention to detail with an appreciation for the bigger picture of complex projects.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills, with experience communicating to senior decision‑makers and technical audiences.
  • Experience in start‑up organizations is a plus.

Work Environment
  • General office setting, with occasional inside or outside work and support of 24/7 test operations.
  • Must complete a U.S. government background investigation and be U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet critical project milestones.
  • Physical demands include primarily sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time), with occasional lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
  • Standard office equipment such as PC, phone, and printer will be used.
