Suitability Specialist

Work Location: HQ USARCENT, Shaw AFB, SC

Job Description:

Position Summary

Support suitability and personnel-security case administration for USARCENT Headquarters Battalion. Maintain secure, complete, and timely case records; track investigative or adjudicative dependencies; and provide administrative support without exercising Government adjudicative authority.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Receive, review, organize, and track suitability or personnel-security packages and supporting documentation.
  • Verify package completeness, identify discrepancies, and coordinate missing information through authorized channels.
  • Maintain secure case queues, status trackers, suspense dates, handoff records, and completion evidence.
  • Protect PII and sensitive personnel information and apply access and need-to-know controls.
  • Support reports, data calls, records requests, customer status inquiries, and audit preparation.
  • Elevate investigative, access, documentation, or timeliness risks to authorized Government and contractor leadership.
Government-Stated Conditions
  • Must possess and maintain a Secret clearance. The Government recommends an active clearance at hire.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card, installation access, and required Government system/network access; performance cannot begin while required access is pending.
  • Must read, write, speak, and understand English and maintain professional conduct and appearance.
  • Must use Government-furnished equipment and authorized systems for performance; unauthorized personal devices or removable media are prohibited on Government networks.
  • Must complete required security, cyber/IA, OPSEC, antiterrorism, iWATCH, and local training. Possible CONUS or OCONUS travel may be designated after award.
Requirements
  • Three or more years of federal suitability, personnel security, background-investigation support, adjudicative support, and closely related case-management experience.
  • Experience reviewing case documentation, resolving package deficiencies, managing suspenses, and protecting sensitive personal information.
  • Familiarity with federal personnel-security or suitability systems and forms relevant to the assigned work; candidates should identify specific systems on the resume.
  • Strong attention to detail, discretion, customer service, records management, and written communication.
  • Formal personnel-security, suitability, or adjudicative-support training is preferred but is not stated as a Government requirement.
