Job summary

The LSU AgCenter in Louisiana is seeking a Research Associate to conduct computational genetic studies to improve desirable traits in sugarcane. The role combines genomics-assisted breeding with hands-on greenhouse and field work as needed.

Qualified candidates hold a BS or MS in Plant Breeding or Genetics and have experience with Python or R for large datasets, with strong communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Plant Breeding, Genetics, or related field.
• Experience handling high-throughput sequence data and phenotypic/genotypic datasets with Python and/or R.
• Ability to work independently and in a team; good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct computational genetic studies to improve sugarcane agronomic traits.
• Utilize bioinformatics and quantitative genetics tools for genomics-assisted breeding.
• Work in greenhouse and field settings as needed.
