Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a SUE Technician III to join our SUE Services team! Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) is a branch of engineering that mitigates risks associated with new infrastructure design and construction. We work closely with engineers and utility owners to identify utility conflicts using technologies such as electromagnetic line locators, ground penetrating radar, GPS, conventional survey, and vacuum excavation. Our work demands high precision and technical skill.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with a talented team on diverse projects.
  • Read and interpret utility records, as-built drawings, survey data, and highway plans.
  • Designate utilities using electromagnetic and geophysical technologies.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers and Discipline Leads regarding project needs.
  • Operate vacuum excavation trucks and perform test holes to expose utilities.
  • Implement appropriate traffic maintenance.
  • Call “One-Call” tickets.
  • Coordinate survey work with SUE activities.
  • Supervise field crew activities.
  • Train junior team members.
  • Represent Colliers Engineering & Design in the field, communicating with utility companies and clients.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with electromagnetic and geophysical locating technologies.
  • Vacuum excavation experience preferred.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies.
  • Basic computer skills and aptitude for learning new software.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Enjoy working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Willingness to travel out of town and work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to walk several miles daily.
  • Capability to lift heavy equipment up to 80 lbs.
  • Good driving skills with a clean record.
  • Prioritize safety at all times.
  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English for effective communication.

Note: A pre-employment drug screen is required, along with participation in ongoing random drug and alcohol testing.

Compensation: $31-$43/hr DOQ
