Job summary

Accura Engineering in Atlanta, GA is seeking a SUE Technician to perform subsurface utility investigations using GPR and locators. You will locate utilities, prepare field sketches, and support project teams to ensure accurate reporting and safe excavation practices.

The role requires 1–2 years in SUE, reading construction plans, and a valid driver's license. Travel to job sites and a commitment to safety and quality are essential components of the position.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years in SUE, utility locating, or related field.
• Familiarity with SUE methods including QL-B, QL-C, QL-D, QL-A.
• Able to read and interpret construction and utility plans.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Willingness to travel to job sites as needed.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Perform subsurface utility investigations using ground-penetrating radar (GPR), electromagnetic locators, and vacuum excavation techniques.
• Accurately locate and identify underground utilities, such as gas, electric, water, and telecommunications lines.
• Prepare and interpret field sketches, utility drawings, and as-built data.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other field staff to ensure accurate reporting and safe excavation practices.
• Ensure all work complies with safety protocols and industry standards.
• Assist with the preparation of reports, deliverables, and field notes.
• Maintain equipment and vehicles in a clean and functional condition.

Education/Experience:

• Highschool diploma or GED equivalent
• 1-2 years of experience in SUE, utility locating, or a related field.
• Familiarity with SUE methods, including QL-B, QL-C, QLD and QL-A.
• Ability to read and interpret construction and utility plans.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to work in various weather conditions and travel to job sites as needed.
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
