Job summary

Accura Engineering and Consulting Services, Inc. in Atlanta, GA is seeking a SUE Technician to perform subsurface utility investigations using GPR, EM locators, and vacuum excavation. The role requires reading plans, accurate reporting, and strong safety practices.

You will work with project managers and engineers to locate utilities, interpret drawings, and prepare field sketches and as-built data. Candidates should have 1–2 years in SUE and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Highschool diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience in SUE/utility locating.
• Familiarity with QL-B, QL-C, QLD and QL-A.
• Ability to read and interpret construction and utility plans.

Responsibilities

• Perform subsurface utility investigations using GPR, electromagnetic locators, and vacuum excavation techniques.
• Accurately locate and identify underground utilities (gas, electric, water, telecom).
• Prepare and interpret field sketches, utility drawings, and as-built data.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field staff for accurate reporting and safe excavation.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and industry standards.
• Assist with preparation of reports, deliverables, and field notes.
• Maintain equipment and vehicles in good condition.

• Willingness to work in various weather conditions and travel to job sites as needed.
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check

Physical Requirements

• Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
• Ability to carry required instruments and equipment
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
• The worker is subject to variable climate and environmental conditions including but not limited to extreme cold and heat.
