Job summary

AECOM is seeking a SUE Technician to support projects throughout our Eastern region, utilizing advanced geophysical equipment and deductive reasoning to identify utilities within a defined scope in line with ASCE 38-02 & 38-22.

The role requires a BS/AS/HS with related experience, a valid US driver’s license, and willingness to travel frequently. Expect outdoor work in varied weather and physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds. Background checks are mandatory.

• SUE practices in accordance with ASCE 38-02 & 38-22.
• Private locating and/or surveying experience is required.
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites and offices.
• Background check(s) required by client as a condition of employment.
• Frequent traveling to field locations including overnight travel.

Job Description

AECOM offers a comprehensive suite of Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE), private utility locating, and related services to our diverse customer base comprised of Engineering, Environmental, Utility, Surveying, Construction, and Infrastructure.

We are seeking a SUE Technician to support projects throughout our Eastern region. This is an exciting opportunity to start a career with an internationally-known infrastructure consulting firm.

Summary:

• Utilize advanced geophysical equipment, observational skills, and deductive reasoning to identify, designate and locate (vacuum excavation) utilities within a requested job scope in accordance with ASCE 38-02 & 38-22.
• Utilize existing troubleshooting skills and learn new procedures and technologies.

Qualifications

• BS Degree plus2 years of related experience or AS Degree plus 4 years of related experience or HS Diploma plus 6years of related experience
• SUE, private locating and/or surveying experience
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
• Position requires frequent traveling to field locations. Locations and distances vary and will include overnight travel.
• Frequent lifting of equipment up to 50 pounds unassisted.
• Frequent outdoor work in a variety of seasonal weather conditions.
• Daily walking several miles to perform job duties. Frequently across outdoor construction environments with a variety of uneven terrains such as mud, rock, grass, dirt and other unpaved terrains and variable outdoor conditions including heat, cold, dust, and noise.
• As a condition of employment, candidate must pass client required background check(s).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience and understanding of SUE practices and procedures in accordance with ASCE 38-02 & 38-22
• Detailed-oriented and ability to maintain a professional and positive attitude
• Ability to work independently with little direct supervision
