SUE/Survey Technician

Location: Sylva, NC

Position Type: Full-Time/Regular

Position Summary: Performs utility locating and marking of underground utilities. This position is not eligible for employer sponsorship except for TN visa classification.

Essential Functions:

• Operate equipment to locate subsurface utilities
• Mark utilities upon location
• Excavate utilities as needed
• Interpret plans and utility record drawings

Nonessential Functions:

• Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills:

• Must pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening
• Valid Driver's License required

Required Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Skills in mathematics and coordinate geometry
• Familiarity with total stations, data collectors, GPS

Preferred Experience:

• Related experience

Working Conditions:

Field work 95%, involving bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, lifting up to 75 lbs. Outdoor conditions vary. Office work 5%, sedentary with occasional standing/walking. No hazardous conditions expected.
