This person is responsible for organizing and providing direct counseling services to patients in a secure residential setting. The counselor is the agent for providing services to patients whether on a one-to-one or group basis, performs assessment, evaluation, and intakes. Services are given to out of control, high risk, runaway youth, and their families. These youth/adults have a primary diagnosis of substance use disorder and may also have emerging mental health problems. Applicants are expected to subscribe to the disease concept of substance use disorder with the belief that total abstinence is required for ongoing recovery from alcoholism and other drug addiction.
