Job summary

Center for Human Services in Modesto, CA is seeking an experienced Substance Use Disorder Counselor for a full-time role at Juvenile Hall. You will assess client drug and alcohol use and develop treatment plans as part of an integrated, multi-disciplinary team.

The role requires CA SUD certification within five years, a BA/BS in a related field (or equivalent experience), and a minimum of two years of SUD counseling experience.

Qualifications

• California SUD certification or registration required within five years of hire.
• Bachelor's degree in related field preferred; equivalent experience may be accepted.
• Minimum two years experience as a Substance Use Disorder Counselor.
• Thorough knowledge of 12-Step Recovery concepts (AA/NA).
• For a person in recovery, a minimum of 2 years clean and sober is required.
• Strong group facilitation skills.
• Understanding issues specific to youth and adults in recovery.
• Valid First Aid and CPR/Pro/AED (recertification as necessary).
• Pass agency paid criminal justice screening including fingerprints.
• Pass agency paid TB screening.
• Pass agency paid health screening and/or drug testing if required.
• Valid California driver's license and proof of auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Complete drug and alcohol histories and initial screening assessments for clients.
• Interact productively within a multi-disciplinary team and provide case management services.
• Assist with the development of individual service strategies for clients.
• Contribute to and coordinate the development and updating of treatment plans.
• Collect and complete statistical information, case files, and program forms with documentation.
• Maintain liaison with assigned agencies and organizations.
• Facilitate psycho-educational groups and individual sessions.
• Collaborate with probation officers.
• Provide counseling services to youth in juvenile hall or in the community.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Details: Level: Experienced, Job Location: Juvenile Hall - Modesto, CA 95358, Position Type: Full Time, Salary Range: $26.47 - $29.42 Hourly, Travel Percentage: None, Job Shift: Day, Job Category: Substance Use Disorder Counseling, Responsible for assessing client drug and alcohol use, developing and implementation of a treatment plan.Work as a member of an integrated, multi-disciplinary services team.

DUTIES:

• Complete drug and alcohol histories and initial screening assessments for clients.
• Interact productively within a multi-disciplinary team and provide case management services.
• Assist with the development of individual service strategies for clients.
• Contribute to and coordinate the development and updating of treatment plans
• Responsible for collecting and completing statistical information, case files, program forms and providing appropriate documentation per program requirement and agency needs.
• Develop and maintain close working relationship as a liaison with all assigned agencies and organizations.

Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS:

• At the time of hire, must possess a California State recognized SUD Certification or Registration. Certification is required within five years of initial registration.
• BA or BS in related field preferred. May accept equivalent experience in counseling/social services setting.
• Minimum two (2) years experience as a Substance Use Disorder Counselor.
• Thorough knowledge of 12-Step Recovery concepts of AA/NA and how to utilize in the treatment program.
• For a person in recovery, a minimum of 2 years clean and sober is required.
• Strong group facilitation skills.
• Understanding issues specific to youth and adults in recovery.
• Knowledge of community resources.
• Valid First Aid and CPR/Pro/AED, re-certification as necessary.
• Pass agency paid criminal justice screening including fingerprints.
• Pass agency paid TB (Tuberculosis) screening.
• Pass agency paid health screening and/or drug testing, if required.
• Valid California driver’s license and proof of auto insurance coverage required.
• Pass agency paid MVR clearance with no more than 2 points - if you are under the age of 25 our insurance company will not allow any points.
