Job summary

MHMR of Tarrant County seeks a Substance Use Disorder counselor to provide direct care within Behavioral Health programs in Tarrant County. The role involves intake assessments, individual counseling, group therapy, and case coordination, with at least 50% direct care time.

The counselor will develop SUD programming and coordinate peer recovery services at designated clinics. Qualifications include an Associate degree and Texas licensure options (LCDC, LPC, LMSW, etc.) with supervision as

Qualifications

• Minimum Education: Associate degree.
• Preferences: Bilingual/Spanish.
• Substitutions: Can substitute work as peer support or technician.
• Years’ Experience: Six (6) Months.
• Defined Experience: Experience in the treatment of substance abuse or with dually diagnosed and/or mentally ill clients.

Responsibilities

• Provide services to individuals enrolled in Behavioral Health programs with MHMR in Tarrant County.
• Conduct intake assessments, individual counseling, group therapy, and case coordination.
• Develop all SUD programming and treatment.
• Coordinate peer recovery services at an appointed behavioral health clinic.
• Coordinate integrated services with individuals with an SUD diagnosis using evidence-based practices (Seeking Safety, Living in Balance, Motivational Interviewing, CBT).
