Sea Mar Community Health Centers seeks a Substance Use Disorder Trainee to train under a SUDP, providing counseling, assessments and referrals to adults, youth and families. You will collaborate with a supervisor and learn ASAM-based treatment planning.
Requirements include completion of SUDP coursework, current SUDP trainee registration, CPR/First Aid, and a commitment to confidentiality and ethical practice. The role includes clerical tasks, documentation, and coordination with partners.

The Substance Use Disorder Trainee is a person who is in training to become a Substance Use Disorder Professional. During their internship they will work directly under the clinical supervision of a SUDP. This person will learn all of the duties and responsibilities of a SUDP. These duties include how to: be a liaison between the public and the facility, organize and provide direct counseling services to patients, provide a one-to-one or group counseling, assessment, evaluation and intakes. These services are given to adults, youth, and their families. These clients have a primary diagnosis of chemical dependency and may also have emerging mental health problems.
Applicants are expected to subscribe to the disease concept of chemical dependency with the belief that total abstinence is required for ongoing recovery from alcoholism and other drug addiction. Performs a minimum of 60 hours of face-to-face contact and 60 hours of activities each month.
