DRMP's Surveying & Mapping/Geospatial Division is HIRING! We're looking for experienced Utility Locators (Subsurface Utility Engineering - SUE) to join our Charlotte Office.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Obtain a clear understanding of ASCE 38-02 standards and Quality Levels and their applications.
2. Provide underground utility flagging “designation” with proficiency utilizing ground penetrating radar and electromagnet equipment and other geophysical means.
3. Designate all utility line types of conductive or non-conductive materials including water, sewer, gas, electric, fiber optic, PVC, and all other underground facilities that would affect excavation of a site.
4. Mark utilities with flags and/or paint and produce a sketch of results for future use by the client.
5. Operate vacuum excavation truck and other related equipment or “hand dig” to verify utility characteristics.
6. Assist with maintenance of vehicle/trucks, equipment, and work sites.
7. Research all utilities that may be on a site prior to entering the site.
8. Exercise extreme caution near or around any utility facility and follow all applicable job site safety parameters.

Qualifications

• High School diploma and/or specialized training from a vocational or technical school.
• Experience in using electromagnetic and geophysical designating technologies is a plus.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn and understand new software.
• Valid driver’s license with approved/acceptable driving history required.
• Ability to travel (up to 50% of the time, if needed).
• Ability to carry and lift equipment as needed on the project.
• Knowledge of equipment and ability to set up for different work situations.
