Join T2 Utility Engineers (T2ue) in Oceanside, NY, as part of our Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) field tech team. Our entry-level SUE field techs receive on-the-job training in utility locating and designating, along with knowledge in Subsurface Utility Engineering and surveying methods. Are you self-motivated and eager to learn? We are seeking individuals interested in building a career in the utility locating industry. No prior industry experience is necessary; we provide training, and you bring the initiative.

Since 1993, T2 Utility Engineers has provided professional Subsurface Utility Engineering, UC, and surveying services for various infrastructure projects. Using advanced technology, our team of technicians, engineers, and surveyors provides quality data and insights to support project visualization, planning, and design. Our mission is to deliver high-quality information and professional insights that streamline construction, enhance safety, and set industry standards.

SUE Technician I Responsibilities:
  1. Learn to operate SUE utility locating and designating equipment, including pipe and cable locators and non-destructive vacuum excavation.
  2. Use tools and equipment for utility investigations, such as jackhammers, pogo-tamper, concrete saw, compressor blower, vacuum hose, air lance, and hand tools.
  3. Drive commercial motor vehicles; a CDL license is not required.
  4. Complete daily logs of work performed, including simple mathematics.
  5. Perform daily basic vehicle maintenance.
  6. Set up and maintain traffic safety measures under supervision.
  7. Assist with survey and data collection tasks, supporting crew activities.
  8. Perform routine equipment maintenance.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and obtain a DOT medical card
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical tasks necessary for heavy tools and equipment operation
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all climates
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%, including overnight stays
  • Good oral communication skills and attention to detail
  • OSHA Safety certifications are a plus
  • Prior utility-related experience and understanding of highway/utility plans are advantageous but not required
